At the beginning of the new year, we introduced changes to the markings on our PUR polyurethane industrial extraction hoses, aimed at enabling clear identification of key properties directly on the hose itself. Alongside the product name, which remains unchanged, two markings have been added: ‘A-Static’ and the ‘glass and fork’ symbol indicating suitability for the food industry.
The technical parameters of the hoses have not changed. Only the marking has been updated to improve readability, safety, and correct product identification during installation and operation.
A-Static – designation for permanently antistatic hoses
The A-Static marking is our internal symbol identifying permanently antistatic hoses. These hoses have a laboratory-confirmed surface resistivity of ≤ 10⁹ Ω.
In practice, this means that:
- the hoses effectively dissipate electrostatic charges,
- they are intended for applications where there is a risk of electrostatic discharge,
- when used correctly, they reduce the risk of ignition of dusts and dry mixtures.
Use in Ex zones
When using hoses in explosion-hazard areas (Ex), the standard technical requirement applies:
- The hose must always be grounded.
This is not a feature specific to our products, but a general and mandatory requirement for all installations and technologies operating in Ex zones. Once this requirement is met, the hose can be considered fully antistatic and safe for use in Ex areas.
‘Glass and fork’ symbol – clear information directly on the hose
The second new element of the marking is the ‘glass and fork’ symbol, which is the standard designation for approval for use in the food industry.
It should be clearly emphasized:
- this is not a new certification nor a change in material,
- our polyurethane hoses have consistently held certification for food contact,
- PUR hoses are specifically intended for the conveying and extraction of dry food products.
The only novelty is that this marking has been permanently applied directly on the hose, which:
- makes product identification in the facility easier,
- eliminates misunderstandings during installation and maintenance,
- simplifies quality inspections and audits.
Hose Applications
Polyurethane suction hoses with the new marking are intended for:
- for the extraction of dry mixtures,
- for the conveying of dry bulk materials,
- for industrial and food applications, as well as for processes requiring antistatic properties.
Summary
- The technical specifications of the hoses remain unchanged.
- Only the marking and the scope of information on the product have changed.
- The new marking provides:
- clear identification of permanent antistatic performance (A-Static)
- visible indication of approval for use in the food industry
- The aim is improved identification, a higher level of safety, and a reduced risk of improper use.
